Free QR code generator
How to make a QR code
- 1Choose what the QR code should open: a website link, plain text, a Wi-Fi network or an email.
- 2Enter the details. The QR code appears in the preview straight away.
- 3Pick a colour and an error correction level. Higher levels still scan if the code gets scratched or partly covered.
- 4Download it as a PNG for screens and documents, or as an SVG for sharp printing at any size.
- 5Scan it with your phone camera to test it before you print or share it.

Tips for QR codes that scan every time
- Keep good contrast
- Use a dark code on a light background. Light codes on dark backgrounds, or low-contrast colours, are harder for phones to read.
- Print it big enough
- As a rule of thumb, print QR codes at least 2 cm (about 0.8 in) wide, and larger if people will scan from a distance.
- Leave space around it
- Keep a clear margin around the code. Text or graphics touching the edges can stop it scanning.
- Use SVG for print
- SVG files stay sharp at any size, so they are best for flyers, packaging, banners and signs.
- Keep links short
- Shorter content creates a simpler code that scans faster, especially when printed small.
- Always test first
- Scan the downloaded file with more than one phone before printing hundreds of copies.
Frequently asked questions
Is this QR code generator free?
Yes. It is free to use, with no account, sign-up, watermark or limit on how many codes you create.
Do these QR codes expire?
No. The codes contain your link or details directly, with no redirect service in between, so they keep working for as long as the link itself works.
Can I change the link after printing the QR code?
No. Because the link is stored in the code itself, changing it means creating a new QR code. Editable (dynamic) QR codes need a redirect service, which this tool deliberately does not use.
How do I make a QR code for Wi-Fi?
Choose Wi-Fi, enter your network name and password, and select the security type. Guests can then scan the code to join your network without typing the password.
Should I download PNG or SVG?
Use PNG for websites, documents and social media. Use SVG for printing, because it stays sharp at any size.
Do you track who scans my QR code?
No. The QR code is created in your browser and points directly to your content, so we never see your data or your scans.
